If you have multiple keywords then separate them with a hyphen. Also keep this simple, and make sure people can remember it. A site like http://www.this-is-my-main-keyword-and-here-is-another.com is probably not a good idea. The reason I say that it is a good idea is because when people link to you naturally, it is possible they will use your domain as the anchor text of the link. By having your keywords separated by hyphens in your domain, you assure yourself that any natural link you get will have the keywords that you want in the anchor text.

A good example is Hotels.com. The Hotels.com site ranks in the first position for the keyword hotels, which is probably one of the most competitive terms on the internet. I believe they rank so high for this word because most of their links contain the word hotels. People who naturally link to them use the anchor text hotels.com which contains their major keyword. When you register the domain that has your keywords in the text, your anchor text in natural links will always be what you want it to be.

Google gives no preference to sites with the keywords in their domain. What I mean is, just because you have the keywords in your domain, does not make Google or any other search engine think your site is more relevant. That’s where content and links serve a purpose. Just because you don’t have the keywords in your domain does not mean you can’t rank well for keywords. I like to think of search engines as humans and their patents prove that is what they are mimicking. Humans can only focus on one thing at a time. I feel that the concentration of my focus to particular keywords will allow me to not only get rankings for several keywords over time, but allow me to monitor the results and make sure that efforts towards other rankings don’t damage my current rankings.

In conclusion if you have already registered your domain, that is great. Leave it how it is, do not form a new domain simply because you don’t have keywords in it. If anything this can trigger duplicate content filters and get both sites punished. Just stick to you regular domain and submit articles and such to a bunch of directories with your keywords in them. This ensures you get the correct anchor text in your links, and these are all one way links that are not penalized by search engines.
